MIAMI: Hidden Gems

Wynwood Walls – Urban Graffiti Art Miami

This past weekend I got to take off to Miami for a quick getaway with my boyfriend. We spent a lot of time at the beach, and pool trying to soak up as much sunshine as possible. Don’t forget I live in the Great White North, (otherwise known as Canada), and honey it is COLD. All this to say, even though we spent a lot of time eating, shopping, and tanning…aka the things I do best in this world – we did go on some adventures and found the dopest neighbourhood in Miami. If you find yourself near South Beach or in Miami anytime soon, I HIGHLY recommend you check out Wynwood. This neighbourhood is so cute, trendy, and chic. It is a neighbourhood that has recently been restored, and is now a total hot spot for celebrities, and tourists alike. Every building is covered in beautiful murals and graffiti. The entire neighbourhood is gorgeous and alive with art! The opportunity for photo shoots here are truly endless…lol. There are so many local coffee shops (my boyfriend and I went to Miam Cafe for breakfast and had some excellent sandwiches), and there are also adorable shops. We even found a pop-up Daniel Wellington store where they were handing out cute balloons! Win.

BUT what totally got me hooked on this area were two notable spots…

Coyo Taco

Let me preface this by saying I LOVE TACOS. I can’t even fathom the idea of being a vegetarian because I spend most of my life traveling the world to find the best steak, and chicken tacos. On that note, Coyo Taco was a total win for me. I went pretty late at night (for a midnight snack), and it completely satisfied my cravings. The environment is fun and trendy and it turns out the back room of the restaurant actually turns into a club at night (I think this is a local secret – so you’re welcome).

 Plant the Future

Plant the Future is this adorable spot in Wynwood that sells flowers, plants, and terrariums. I have a new obsession with botanical gardens, and I especially love those cute little cactuses. This store is so aesthetically pleasing, so if you are ever in the area I highly recommend checking it out. Unfortunately, I struggled because it’s hard to get terrariums over the border and back to Canada so instead of purchasing everything in the store I had a little fashion show in their beautiful entrance. 😉
